Role Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer with 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot to contribute to the development of backend systems and features across one or more products within the ETPL AI portfolio.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building, testing, and maintaining well-structured backend code under the guidance of Staff Engineers and Senior Engineers within the team. The Software Engineer will work within an established product engineering environment, contribute to feature development across the software development lifecycle, and grow their technical capability through structured mentorship, code reviews, and exposure to real-world enterprise product challenges.

This role is suited to an engineer who has a solid foundation in Java and Spring Boot, writes clean and thoughtful code, and is eager to deepen their skills in backend engineering, system design, and collaborative software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend features and services using Java and Spring Boot, delivering well-structured, readable, and testable code as part of a collaborative product engineering team.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements understanding, technical design discussions, development, unit testing, code review, and deployment support.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, implementing clear API contracts and integration patterns in line with team standards and architectural guidelines.
• Write unit tests and integration tests for developed features, contributing to the team's automated test coverage and overall code quality.
• Participate in code reviews, both receiving and providing feedback constructively, as a means of improving personal output and contributing to team quality standards.
• Work with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) to implement and maintain data models, write efficient queries, and contribute to schema design under guidance from senior engineers.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve bugs and technical issues raised through testing or production monitoring, with clear documentation of root cause and resolution.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand feature requirements and contribute to technical discussions on implementation approach.
• Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation for developed features, APIs, and system components.
• Actively engage with feedback from code reviews, architectural discussions, and mentoring sessions to continuously improve code quality and engineering judgement.
• Stay current with developments in the Java and Spring Boot ecosystem and bring relevant learnings back to the team.

Experience and Profile

• 1 to 3 years of hands-on software engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot in a professional setting.
• Demonstrated ability to build and deliver backend features independently within a team environment.
• Exposure to RESTful API development and relational database design is expected.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows is required.
• Final-year graduates or candidates with strong internship or project experience demonstrating practical Java and Spring Boot proficiency will be considered.
