Role Overview

We are seeking a Scrum Master with 9 to 13 years of experience to lead Agile delivery across multiple product engineering teams within ETPL's technology capability. At this level of seniority, the role extends well beyond facilitating ceremonies - it is fundamentally about shaping how ETPL's engineering organisation thinks about delivery, improving team performance at a systemic level, and coaching both teams and leadership towards genuine Agile maturity.

The Scrum Master will serve multiple product teams across the ETPL AI portfolio, each working on distinct platforms with their own engineering, product, and business stakeholder contexts. They will be the organisational authority on Agile practice - identifying delivery impediments, driving continuous improvement, and building the structures that allow teams to deliver consistently, predictably, and sustainably.

This is a role for a practitioner who has moved well beyond process facilitation into genuine delivery leadership - someone who can coach a team through dysfunction, advise the CTO and product leadership on delivery health, and build an Agile culture that outlasts any individual sprint.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Scrum Master across multiple product engineering teams within the ETPL AI portfolio, facilitating Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives with rigour, consistency, and purposeful facilitation.
• Act as the primary guardian of Agile process integrity across assigned teams, ensuring that Scrum values and principles are understood, applied, and continuously deepened, not merely performed.
• Identify, track, and drive the resolution of impediments affecting team delivery, including cross-team dependencies, resourcing constraints, process bottlenecks, and organisational blockers, with structured escalation where required.
• Coach engineering teams, product managers, and business analysts in Agile mindset and practices, building genuine capability rather than compliance, and supporting teams in evolving their own ways of working.
• Work with product managers and Staff Engineers to ensure that product backlogs are well-structured, consistently refined, and maintained at a level of clarity that enables reliable sprint planning and delivery commitment.
• Own delivery metrics across assigned teams, including velocity, sprint burndown, cycle time, and cumulative flow, using data to surface patterns, diagnose delivery health, and drive targeted improvement conversations.
• Lead and facilitate cross-team coordination where product areas have dependencies, ensuring alignment across sprint cycles without creating unnecessary coupling or bureaucratic overhead.
• Conduct regular delivery health assessments across teams, identifying structural risks such as team instability, unclear ownership, scope creep, or technical debt accumulation, and working with engineering and product leadership to address them.
• Coach and advise the CTO, product managers, and senior engineering leaders on Agile delivery at an organisational level, providing frank, evidence-based assessments of delivery performance and practical recommendations for improvement.
• Drive the adoption and continuous improvement of Agile tooling such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent, ensuring boards, workflows, and reporting structures reflect actual team practice and provide useful visibility to stakeholders.
• Lead retrospective practice across teams with the depth to surface genuine systemic issues rather than surface-level observations, and ensure agreed actions are implemented and measured.
• Contribute to the development of ETPL's wider delivery framework, including onboarding practices for new engineering teams, delivery governance standards, and cross-portfolio coordination mechanisms.
• Mentor and develop less experienced Scrum practitioners within the engineering organisation where applicable.

Experience and Profile

• 9 to 13 years of progressive experience in Agile delivery, with substantial experience as a Scrum Master across multiple concurrent product engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to drive measurable improvements in team delivery performance, not just process compliance, through coaching, facilitation, and systemic problem-solving.
• Experience operating as a Scrum Master across multiple simultaneous teams in a multi-product engineering environment.
• Proven ability to coach and influence at senior levels, including engineering leadership, product management, and organisational stakeholders, on Agile practice and delivery health.
• Experience working in a scaling technology company where Agile practices are still being established or matured is strongly preferred.
• Recognised Agile or Scrum certification such as CSM, PSM II, SAFe, or equivalent is expected at this level of seniority; advanced certification such as PSM III or CSP-SM is an advantage.

• Advanced coaching capability, able to work with teams and individuals at different levels of Agile maturity, adjusting style from directive to facilitative as the situation demands.
• Strong analytical capability, able to interpret delivery metrics, identify underlying patterns and causes, and translate data into honest, actionable conversations with teams and leadership.
• Excellent conflict resolution and team dynamics skills, comfortable naming dysfunction, mediating disagreements, and creating the psychological safety that allows teams to improve honestly.
• Deep understanding of the relationship between Agile delivery and product ownership, able to work productively with product managers and business analysts to improve backlog health, story quality, and acceptance criteria discipline.
• Familiarity with engineering practices that underpin sustainable Agile delivery, including TDD, continuous integration, definition of done discipline, and technical debt management, sufficient to have credible conversations with engineering teams.
• Proficiency with Agile tooling such as Jira, Confluence, Notion, or equivalent, including the ability to configure workflows, build dashboards, and use data to tell an honest story about delivery health.
• Clear, direct, and diplomatically honest communication skills, able to deliver difficult truths about delivery performance to engineering teams and senior leadership with equal confidence.
• A servant leadership orientation, genuinely invested in the success of the teams and the organisation, not in the visibility of the Scrum Master role itself.
• Organisational awareness and political intelligence, able to navigate a scaling company's evolving structures, competing priorities, and stakeholder dynamics without losing sight of the teams' delivery needs.
