Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a Lead Business Analyst with 6 to 9 years of experience to own requirements discovery, analysis, and documentation across one or more products within the ETPL AI portfolio, serving as the critical bridge between institutional client needs, product strategy, and engineering delivery.

The Lead Business Analyst operates with significant autonomy and carries end-to-end ownership of the requirements function within their product context. This means leading discovery engagements with clients and stakeholders, translating complex institutional workflows into structured, unambiguous specifications, guiding junior analysts, and working in close partnership with product managers, engineering leads, and implementation teams to ensure that what is built is precisely what is needed.

ETPL's products serve operationally complex institutional environments, including schools, colleges, lending institutions, cooperative societies, HR functions, and procurement teams, each with distinct workflows, regulatory requirements, and user needs. The Lead BA will bring both the analytical rigour to map these environments accurately and the communication clarity to translate them into specifications that engineering teams can build from with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end requirements discovery for assigned ETPL AI products, conducting stakeholder interviews, workshops, process walkthroughs, and field observations to develop a thorough understanding of institutional workflows and user needs.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into clear, structured, and unambiguous documentation, including BRDs, FRDs, user stories, use cases, process flows, data flow diagrams, and acceptance criteria, to an engineering-ready standard.
  • Own the requirements backlog for assigned product areas, maintaining, prioritising, and refining requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineering leads throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Facilitate requirements review sessions with engineering, product, and client stakeholders, resolving ambiguities, managing scope discussions, and ensuring sign-off before development commences.
  • Map and document as-is and to-be institutional workflows using structured process modelling techniques, identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and automation opportunities that the product can address.
  • Define and document data requirements, including entity relationships, data flows, validation rules, and integration data contracts, in coordination with database and backend engineering teams.
  • Lead and guide junior business analysts within the team, reviewing their documentation, providing structured feedback, and developing their analytical capability.
  • Collaborate with the QA function to ensure that acceptance criteria are well-defined, testable, and traceable from requirements through to test cases.
  • Support the implementation and client onboarding teams by producing functional documentation, configuration guides, and user workflow summaries that translate product capabilities into institutional context.
  • Manage requirements change requests systematically, assessing impact, communicating trade-offs to stakeholders, and maintaining traceability across the requirements lifecycle.
  • Conduct gap analysis between existing product capabilities and new client requirements, providing structured input to product roadmap discussions.
  • Contribute to the standardisation of BA processes, documentation templates, and quality standards across ETPL's product engineering function.

Experience and Profile

  • 6 to 9 years of experience in business analysis, functional consulting, or a related requirements-focused role within software product or enterprise technology environments.
  • Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end requirements for complex, multi-module software products serving enterprise or institutional clients.
  • Prior experience in one or more of ETPL's domain verticals - education ERP, lending or financial services, HRMS, cooperative management, or procurement - is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to produce engineering-ready documentation such as user stories, FRDs, process flows, and data dictionaries that engineering teams can build from without significant clarification overhead.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks, managing a product backlog, and contributing to sprint planning and refinement processes.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior business analysts is expected at this level.
