Role Overview
We are seeking a Staff Engineer with 6 to 9 years of hands-on experience in ReactJS to provide frontend technical leadership across one or more products within the ETPL AI portfolio. This role carries responsibility for frontend architecture, component design systems, engineering quality, and the technical development of frontend delivery teams.
The Staff Engineer will be the senior technical authority for frontend engineering within their product context, owning architectural decisions, defining component and state management patterns, and ensuring that the interfaces they are responsible for are performant, accessible, maintainable, and built to support the complex workflows of enterprise-grade institutional deployments.
The role requires an engineer who thinks in systems, not just components, one who can design a scalable frontend architecture, establish the standards others build within, and grow the engineers around them while remaining deeply hands-on with the codebase.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership in the design, development, and evolution of frontend systems and user interfaces built on ReactJS across assigned ETPL AI products.
- Own frontend architecture decisions, including component architecture, state management strategy, routing, data fetching patterns, and frontend-backend integration, ensuring scalability, reusability, and long-term maintainability.
- Lead the design and implementation of a shared component library and design system, establishing consistent UI patterns, accessibility standards, and visual behaviour across the product.
- Lead and mentor a team of frontend engineers, conducting code reviews, architectural walkthroughs, and technical discussions that raise the capability and consistency of the broader team.
- Translate complex product requirements and institutional user workflows into well-structured, intuitive frontend designs in close collaboration with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers.
- Define and enforce frontend coding standards, component design guidelines, and engineering governance practices across the product codebase.
- Drive frontend performance optimisation, including rendering performance, bundle size management, lazy loading, caching strategies, and Core Web Vitals, to ensure a high-quality user experience across devices and network conditions.
- Conduct architectural reviews and code audits to identify technical debt, performance issues, and structural risks in the frontend codebase, and lead their structured resolution.
- Own the frontend aspects of the software delivery lifecycle, including design reviews, component testing governance, build pipeline oversight, and post-release monitoring.
- Evaluate and integrate appropriate libraries, tooling, and frameworks to improve engineering efficiency, developer experience, and product quality.
- Act as the escalation point for critical frontend issues and production incidents, leading structured root cause analysis and resolution.
- Champion a culture of engineering excellence, documentation discipline, and continuous improvement within the frontend engineering team.
Experience and Profile
- 6 to 9 years of hands-on frontend engineering experience, with strong and sustained depth in ReactJS.
- Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering scalable frontend systems for enterprise or SaaS products with complex, data-rich user interfaces.
- Experience building or significantly contributing to a shared component library or design system in a multi-team engineering environment.
- Experience leading or mentoring other frontend engineers within a structured delivery team.
- Proven ability to make and communicate sound architectural decisions across component design, state management, and frontend-backend integration.
- Prior exposure to enterprise product engineering, particularly products with complex forms, multi-step workflows, dashboards, or role-based access patterns, is strongly preferred.
