Role Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer with 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in PHP and Laravel to contribute to the development of backend systems and features across one or more products within the ETPL AI portfolio.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building, testing, and maintaining well-structured backend code under the guidance of Staff Engineers and Senior Engineers within the team. The Software Engineer will work within an established product engineering environment, contribute to feature development across the software development lifecycle, and grow technical capability through structured mentorship, code reviews, and exposure to real-world enterprise product challenges.

This role is suited to an engineer who has a solid foundation in PHP and Laravel, writes clean and thoughtful code, and is eager to deepen skills in backend engineering, database design, and collaborative software delivery within an enterprise SaaS context.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend features and services using PHP and Laravel, delivering well-structured, readable, and testable code as part of a collaborative product engineering team.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements understanding, technical design discussions, development, unit testing, code review, and deployment support.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs using Laravel, implementing clear API contracts and integration patterns in line with team standards and architectural guidelines.
• Work with Eloquent ORM to implement data models, write efficient database queries, and contribute to schema design under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Participate in code reviews, both receiving and providing feedback constructively, as a means of improving personal output and contributing to team quality standards.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve bugs and technical issues raised through testing or production monitoring, with clear documentation of root cause and resolution.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand feature requirements and contribute to technical discussions on implementation approach.
• Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation for developed features, APIs, and system components.
• Actively engage with feedback from code reviews, architectural discussions, and mentoring sessions to continuously improve code quality and engineering judgement.
• Stay current with developments in the PHP and Laravel ecosystem and bring relevant learnings back to the team.

Experience and Profile

• 1 to 3 years of hands-on software engineering experience with PHP and Laravel in a professional setting.
• Demonstrated ability to build and deliver backend features independently within a team environment.
• Exposure to RESTful API development and relational database design using MySQL is expected.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows is required.
• Final-year graduates or candidates with strong internship or project experience demonstrating practical PHP and Laravel proficiency will be considered.
